The Sudbury East/West Nipissing Region offers serenely beautiful landscapes, from lush forests, to pristine waters of its many lakes and rivers, including magnificent Lake Nipissing and the historical French River.
Located a short drive from Sudbury and North Bay, the communities of the area offer affordable housing and give immediate access to all the amenities of two larger urban centers, including health care facilities, shopping, airports, government services, financial institutions, postsecondary institutions and an array of cultural activities (theater, museums, cinemas, restaurants, festivals, etc.)
Sudbury East Region:
- The region consists of the incorporated municipalities of French River, St. Charles and Markstay-Warren and thirteen unincorporated townships.
- The Sudbury East area covers approximately 954 square km and is home to more than 12,000 people.
West Nipissing Region:
- On January 1, 1999, the towns of Cache Bay and Sturgeon Falls and the Townships of Caldwell, Field and Springer amalgamated to form a new municipality and the following geographic townships of Bertram, Latchford, Falconer, Loudon, MacPherson, Beaucage, Fedley, Kirkpatrick, Grant, Badgerow, Hugel, Fell, Bastedo, Gibbons, Crerar, McWilliams, Dana and a portion of the geographic township of Janes, were annexed to the Corporation of the Municipality of West Nipissing.
- The West Nipissing area covers approximately 1,274 square km and is home to more than 13,650 people.
